Conservation

Our founder Dr. Pete Bloom grew up in the foothills of Tustin, California and has referred to those wildlands as the first “university” he attended. As early as five years old (1957), he was outside studying all the local wildlife species, from reptiles to bugs to birds. He watched as urban and suburban development encroached more and more into the sensitive and unique ecosystems throughout southern California, and he took great interest in how animals such as raptors were adapting to the changing environment. He earned his Banding Permit in 1970 and has since made a name for himself in the field of raptor ecology.

Our long-term research, with over 80 peer-reviewed articles and manuscripts published over the past 50 years, enables us to contribute with great authority to the various agencies seeking information and/or guidance regarding the many conservation issues we face in current times. Bloom Research Inc. also strives to provide educational materials that can be accessed by anyone interested in wildlife conservation. Below are some “hot topics” that we believe are important, not just for raptors but for the environment as a whole.
